Joy Ngiaw to compose original score for Spirit!
Originally from Malaysia, Joy Ngiaw is a Los Angeles based film composer. At the age of 21, she had the opportunity to work on HBO's miniseries 'The Night Of', FX/Marvel's X-men spin-off series 'Legion', films such as 'Submission' and 'Three Christ' and many more. She had worked with Emmy- and Grammy-nominated composer Jeff Russo, Engineer Michael Perfitt (20th Century Women, Heroes), composer Joachim Horsley (Rabbit Hole), and is currently the production assistant and additional writer for Emmy Award-winning composer Joel Goodman.
Joy had her music performed at the Boston Symphony Hall by the prestigious Boston Pops, conducted by maestro Keith Lockhart. Directed by three-time Emmy nominee composer Sheldon Mirowitz, Joy wrote the opening reel to F.W. Murnau's 'Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror'. The concert was well received, and the score was played again in 2016 by the Valencia Symphony Orchestra. She is continuing to work with VSO, and is currently writing for an original score for Charlie Chaplin's 'The Adventurer', which will be played live to picture in a concert in August 2017.
Her other composition credits include films, animated shorts, webseries, and video games. She collaborated with YouTube Space LA and LA Women's Initiative, and composed music for micro-series 'Tiny Feminist', as well as 'If Women Ruled The World' on YouTuber Anna Akana's channel. She recently scored 'Lolo Pepe', 'Plaza Blvd', 'Man of My Dreams', 'Miss Understanding' and 'Uncle Eddy' that will premiere at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Festival in May 2017.
